The alarming rate of depletion of coral populations around the world will unquestionably have a direct impact on the marine resources. The ability of a coral community to recover is perhaps that least understood of the dynamics in a coral reef ecosystem.

The initial ABM model that will be developed will contain rules to simulate the vertical growth and horizontal spread of coral species competing for space and resources and mortality due to aging and external stimuli.
